The Opportunity

RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) is the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization and has provided support to more than 3.5 million survivors of sexual assault through the National Sexual Assault Hotline over the last 26 years. When our partnership began, RAINN was aiming to grow revenue, bring disciplined processes and organization to their day-to-day fundraising operations, develop their pipeline to ensure fundraising success for years to come, and leverage their 25th anniversary year to intentionally connect with funders and the survivor community.

Our Work

SDSG supported the RAINN team by conducting a lead generation project to infuse RAINN’s pipeline with new funding prospects and by providing strategic advising and thought partnership on overall development efforts. Subsequently, SDSG developed a framework and recommendations for RAINN’s launch of a multimillion-dollar fundraising campaign, the Thrive Together Campaign. SDSG was involved in all aspects of the campaign, from timelines and staff training, to forecasting and written materials support, to campaign leadership development and public launch planning.

The Thrive Together Campaign was RAINN’s first major fundraising campaign, and RAINN successfully achieved their $10 million goal in less than two years, closing the campaign in early 2022. This acceleration of revenue has allowed RAINN to continue shaping the public narrative, stand as a resource and champion for change, and allowed the organization to continue to serve over 25,000 people each month through their hotline. SDSG also generated 50 highly qualified major gifts leads, which has already resulted in more than $50,000 in new donations to support RAINN’s mission.
